Terms of Service

The original text of these Terms is written in Korean. To the extent any translated version of these Terms conflicts with the Korean version, the Korean version shall prevail.
Article 1 (Purpose)
The purpose of these Terms is to set forth the conditions and procedures for using the language-learning service (hereinafter the “Service”) provided by LOING (hereinafter the “Company”), the rights, obligations, and responsibilities of the Company and the user, and other necessary matters.
Article 2 (Definitions)
- “Service” means the AI-based multilingual learning platform and all related services provided by the Company.
- “User” means a member or non-member who uses the Service in accordance with these Terms.
- “Member” means a person who has signed up for the Service and registered an account.
- “Content” means all information provided within the Service, including learning questions, audio, images, and the Nogli character.
- “Paid Service” means services provided by the Company for a fee, such as subscriptions and item purchases.

Article 4 (Effect and Amendment of the Terms)
- These Terms take effect when they are posted on the Service screen or otherwise announced to users.
- The Company may amend these Terms within the scope that does not violate applicable laws, and the amended Terms shall be announced from 7 days before the effective date. However, in the case of material changes unfavorable to users, they shall be announced from 30 days before the effective date.
- If a user does not agree to the amended Terms, the user may discontinue use of the Service and withdraw.
Article 5 (Service Use Agreement)
- The use agreement is concluded when the user agrees to the Terms and completes registration.
- The Company may refuse registration or restrict use in any of the following cases:
- Where the user registered using another person's information
- Where the user intentionally interfered with the operation of the Service
- Where the user engaged in conduct that violates applicable laws
Article 6 (Provision and Modification of the Service)
- The Company provides the following services:
- Provision of AI-based, adaptive-difficulty language-learning questions
- Nogli character-raising system
- Learning content based on actual native-speaker utterances
- Study-friend and social features
- The Company may modify the contents of the Service, and material changes shall be announced in advance.
Article 7 (Membership Withdrawal and Account Deletion)
- A member may delete (withdraw) their account at any time. Methods of deletion:
- In the app: [Profile > Settings > Delete account]
- On the web: Account deletion request page
- Upon account deletion, the following data is permanently deleted:
- Profile information (email, nickname, profile picture, etc.)
- Learning records and progress
- Nogli character data
- Follower/following relationships
- However, information that must be retained under applicable laws shall be stored separately for the relevant period and then deleted (see Article 3 of the Privacy Policy).
- A deleted account cannot be recovered.
Article 8 (Paid Services and Payment)
- The fees and payment methods for Paid Services are displayed on each service screen.
- In the case of subscription services, the subscription may automatically renew unless the user cancels it, and prior notice shall be given before automatic renewal.
- A user may cancel a subscription at any time, and upon cancellation may use the Service until the end of the then-current billing cycle.
- Withdrawal of subscription is possible within 7 days from the date of purchase. However, withdrawal of subscription may be restricted for consumable content already used (such as diamonds and energy).
- Refunds are processed in accordance with the policy of the payment method, and the processing period may vary depending on the payment method.
Article 9 (Notice Regarding the Use of AI Technology and Content Generation)
- This Service uses artificial intelligence technology (generative AI) in accordance with the Framework Act on AI Development and Trust (Korea) to provide the following features:
- Generation of learning passages and questions
- Automatic adjustment of learning difficulty
- Speech synthesis (TTS)
- Generation of learning feedback and explanations
- AI-generated learning content is provided after review by professional editors, but it may contain errors, and the Company does not guarantee the complete accuracy of AI-generated content.
- AI-generated content is marked as such.
- Users have the right to request an explanation of, or to object to, AI-based automated decision-making (such as learning-difficulty adjustment and content recommendation).
- If a user discovers an error in AI-generated content, the user may report it through the in-app reporting feature or via support@loing.app, and the Company shall promptly review and reflect such reports.
- The Company does not use users' personal information for training AI models.
Article 10 (Obligations of Users)
- Users shall comply with applicable laws and the provisions of these Terms when using the Service.
- Users shall not engage in the following conduct:
- Collecting, storing, or disclosing another person's personal information
- Using the Service for commercial purposes
- Interfering with the operation of the Service or impairing its stability
- Reproducing, distributing, or modifying Content without authorization
Article 11 (Intellectual Property Rights)
- The copyright and intellectual property rights in the Content within the Service (such as learning questions, audio, images, and the Nogli character design) belong to the Company.
- A user may not commercially use, or provide to a third party, information obtained by using the Service provided by the Company without the Company's prior consent.
Article 12 (Disclaimer)
- The Company shall be exempt from liability where it is unable to provide the Service due to force majeure, such as natural disasters or server failures.
- The Company does not guarantee the learning effects that a user expects from using the Service.
- The Company has no obligation to intervene in disputes between users or between a user and a third party.
- However, this provision shall not apply to damages caused by the Company's intent or gross negligence.
Article 13 (Governing Law and Jurisdiction)
- The interpretation and application of these Terms shall be governed by the laws of the Republic of Korea.
- In the event of a dispute relating to these Terms, an action may be filed with the competent court in accordance with the Civil Procedure Act (Korea) and other relevant laws.
